Job Description

The Radiography Technologist performs radiographic examinations within clinics, inpatient units, and the Medical Imaging Department. The role ensures high standards of patient care and imaging quality while supporting daily administrative duties, infection control, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives across the department and hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform General and Specialized Radiographic procedures including Mammography, Interventional and Fluoroscopy Radiography, Portable Radiography, C-arm, O-Arm, and Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) as per hospital guidelines.

  • Instruct and position patients accurately, select appropriate imaging techniques, and calibrate equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Review imaging requests and previous studies before conducting examinations.

  • Conduct daily equipment safety checks and ensure proper cleaning and stocking of imaging rooms.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging areas at the end of each shift.

  • Work closely with radiologists to meet procedural and diagnostic requirements.

  • Schedule imaging appointments when required.

  • Prioritize critical and emergency cases in coordination with radiologists.

  • Adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols, including checking Low Malignant Potential status in females of childbearing age and protecting gonadal areas when necessary.

  • Follow safety measures in specialized imaging areas, including MRI safety screening, contrast assessments, and verification of PTT/INR values for interventional procedures.

  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, clerical duties, scheduling, and documentation.

  • Participate in professional development through seminars, workshops, and continuing education.

  • Assist the Technical Director in coordinating departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs.

  • Participate in staff meetings and departmental projects.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations within the X-ray suite for patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Assist in follow-up investigations related to incidents, accidents, or patient complaints.

  • Maintain hygienic standards by disinfecting equipment and keeping work areas free from food, drinks, and personal items.

  • Perform data analysis and departmental audits to support quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography, Radiology Technology, or Medical Imaging

  • Active registration in home country

  • Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License

Professional Experience

  • Minimum two years of recent radiographic experience

  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology

  • Knowledge of radiation safety, magnetic protection, and safety standards

  • Familiarity with Middle East culture and customs

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation standards

  • High accuracy in patient positioning and X-ray techniques

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
