About the Role
As Senior Specialist – Commercial (Catering) within the Product Development and Design Division (PDD), you will support the Head of Commercial in delivering financial evaluation, investment appraisal, and modelling for strategic initiatives related to Inflight Catering & Culinary functions.
Your role ensures that all product and design decisions are underpinned by robust financial justification aligned with Qatar Airways’ commercial objectives. You will work closely with product managers, designers, experience strategists, finance, procurement, and project teams to translate complex datasets into actionable insights and compelling financial narratives.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, manage, and continuously refine detailed cost models to track and forecast catering metrics including cost per passenger, cost per meal, and wastage rates across cabin classes and routes.
• Support business case development including CAPEX/OPEX modelling, payback analysis, and ROI evaluation.
• Contribute to long-term (5–10 year) product investment forecasts and annual budget cycles to ensure cross-functional financial alignment.
• Perform regular variance analysis comparing actual costs against budget and forecasts, presenting structured reports to catering and culinary leadership.
• Support procurement evaluations, supplier commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and documentation management for product development partners.
• Prepare financial briefing materials for Steering Committee, C-Suite, and Board-level reviews for major product investments.
• Maintain a centralized repository of financial data, benchmarking insights, and competitor analysis to support agile decision-making.
• Ensure financial assumptions are aligned with business finance, subject matter experts (SMEs), strategy teams, and PMO functions.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis across the full project lifecycle — from feasibility assessment to ROI tracking and cost optimization reviews.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in financial data analysis, ideally within aviation, travel, hospitality, or customer experience sectors.
• Advanced Excel modelling and financial analysis expertise.
• Strong understanding of financial appraisal frameworks including TCO, ROI, IRR, and NPV.
• Experience in procurement evaluations, vendor pricing models, and commercial contract terms.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to challenge assumptions and quantify commercial impact.
• Ability to translate complex financial models into clear, persuasive, data-backed narratives for senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including C-level exposure.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives under pressure.
