Job Description

The Technician is responsible for carrying out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles in accordance with approved manufacturer repair techniques. The role ensures high-quality workmanship, productivity, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Functional Roles and Responsibilities

• Collect job orders along with required materials, tools, and equipment to perform repairs and maintenance as per manufacturer standards.

• Perform accurate fault diagnosis and ensure effective utilization of allocated repair time. Report any delays due to parts unavailability or other issues to the Team Leader.

• Ensure all additional repairs are properly authorized and parts are booked to the repair order.

• For warranty repairs or parts exchange programs, return removed parts to the parts department in original packaging to facilitate audit and credit processes.

• For retail jobs, keep old parts inside the vehicle except batteries or items that may damage interior trim or carpet.

• Maintain personal tools properly and keep lifts and work areas clean while complying with health and safety standards.

• Upgrade technical knowledge through web-based courses and classroom training sessions.

• Keep personal tools secure and report any breakage or accidents immediately to the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Tool Room.

• Maintain efficiency and productivity above 100 percent.

• Ensure proper system clocking on and off and complete repair order write-ups as per company procedure.

• Return unused parts properly and dispose of used parts in an environmentally friendly manner.

• Work additional hours if required to complete jobs and ensure customer satisfaction as directed by the Team Leader.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering

• Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) – 2-year Vocational Certified Auto Technician Course

Years of Experience

• 2 to 3 years of experience as a technician for Diploma holders

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a technician for ITI holders

Knowledge and Skills

• ITI Certified Auto Technician Course

• Vocational Automobile Training Course

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering

• Additional technical certifications are an advantage

• Basic electrical knowledge along with mechanical skills

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

• Completion of basic technical training from vehicle manufacturing companies
